Marjorie was born July 18, 1924 in Norwalk, CT; died February 10, 2012 in Ocala, FL. She retired from the Wilton Public School System.
She is survived by her son, Brian and Eileen Smith of Ocala, FL; brother, Donald R. Webb of Ocala, FL; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Preceded in death by husband John R. Smith, Sr.; and son, John R. Smith, Jr.

DANIEL PHILLIP SULLIVAN
Daniel Philip Sullivan - 89, Born May 6, 1922 in Troy, NY; died February 12, 2012 in Summerfield, FL.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
He proudly served our country during WW II and Korea in the US Navy and US Marines. He was a member of VFW Post # 8083, Spruce Creek Veterans Club, Fleet Reserve, DESA, USDR, Corpsmen United, US L. S. T.
Mr. Sullivan enjoyed traveling to Ireland every year since 1980.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Eleanor of Summerfield, FL; nephews, Donald, Edward, Daniel, and William Sullivan; nieces, Mary Beth Gelsleichter, and Colleen Weatherstone; and three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary; brothers, George and Edward.
Funeral mass was held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, FL with Father David Vivero celebrating. Committal service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

THELMA R. KIRKMAN
Thelma R. Kirkman - 78, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012. She was born in Floreffe, PA, and moved to Florida in 1999.
Mrs. Kirkman loved being a wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking roast beef dinners and baking pies for the family gatherings. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting.
She is loved and survived by her husband, Carl F. Kirkman; daughters Mrs. Deborah J. Singer and Mrs. Mary B. Hada Esther Almeida, 89, of Belleview, passed away
at her residence, on Saturday, January 28, 2012.
Mrs. Almeida was a native of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
She was a devoted housewife, a volunteer at Munroe
Regional Medical Center,
loved to bowl at the Ocala
AMF where she was on
a league called the “Pinwheels”
for over 40 years, a
member of the Red Hat Society,
Knights of Columbus,
was an associate of the Belleview
Lions and the Ocala
Elks.
Most of all she was passionate
about volunteering
and supporting the Soup
Kitchen at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Frank “Papa”
Almeida. She is survived by her daughter Francine
(Mark) Hubbard, her sons Frank (Kathy) Almeida, Jr.,
Franco Almeida; all of Belleview, and her son Francois
Almeida of Orlando; brother Manny Rodriguez of Winter
Haven; sister Gladys Vazquez of New Jersey; 6 grandchildren;
and her great grandson Elijah.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Saturday,
February 11, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Dorsey Wilber Fowler
Dorsey Wilber Fowler age 99. Born June 20, 1922
in Johnstown, PA; died February 3, 2012 in Ocala, FL.
Survived by beloved wife of 65 years, Marjorie of
Ocala, FL; son, Thomas R. Fowler of Dale, TX; daughter,
Jackie (Steven) Kramer of Fremont, OH; four grandsons;
six great-grandchildren.
PFC Fowler served in the US Army during WW II in
Europe. Mr. Fowler served his apprenticeship in printing
at the Tribune Democrat, Johnstown, PA. As a typesetter
he worked at the US Government Printing Office, and
the CIA. He retired from the Defense Mapping Agency.
He was a 65 year member of VFW, and was current
member of VFW Post 4493 in Candler, FL, Eagles 4251,
Belleview, FL.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given
to his wife, via the funeral home. Inurnment will be
at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Holley R. Scarberry, Jr. of Belleview passed away
at Tuscany Hospice House on Wednesday, January 25,
2012.
Mr. Scarberry was a native of Lawrence County, OH
moving to this area from Fellsmere, FL 14 years ago.
Mr. Scarberry was a retired owner of an auto body
shop. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping
out and attending Bluegrass Festivals.
He is survived by his wife Alta Scarberry of Belleview;
daughter Phyllis Justice of Belleview; sons Jerry
D. Scarberry of Silver Springs, and Mark Scarberry of
Fellsmere, Fl; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.

John L. Warner III - 71, died January 17, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1940 in Danbury, CT.
He served in the United States Navy from 1958-1961
He moved to Florida the following year.
He was the owner and operator of Sharp-All Tool in Ocala for sixteen years.

Bob Smyth
Bob Smyth - 82, was born in New York City on July 17, 1927; died January 10, 2012 in Ocala, Florida.
He entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1945 and graduated from Naval Flight Training in 1948. In 1952, he graduated from the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School and served as an exchange officer with the British Royal Navy in 1953-54.
In 1955, Bob resigned his commission from the U.S. Navy and accepted a position as an Engineering Test Pilot with Grumman. He flight-tested the F9F Cougar and F11F Tiger series and participated in Gulfstream I Test and Certification program from 1955 to 1960.
Bob performed the first flight of the A2F-1 (A-6A) Intruder in April 1960. He was then appointed as a consulting pilot and astronaut liaison on the Apollo Lunar Module program until the spring of 1966. Bob then became the project pilot for the Gulfstream II, performing its first flight in October 1966.
In September of 1965, Bob was married to Sally Shuman of Marblehead, Massachusetts, in New York City.
In 1967, Bob was appointed Chief Test Pilot for Grumman. Several years later on December 21, 1970, along with fellow Grumman Test Pilot Bill Miller, he performed the first flight of the F-14A Tomcat.
He holds the distinction, along with Bill Miller, as the first crew to eject from an F-14 on December 30, just a little over a week from its first flight.
Bob was named Director of Flight Test in 1974. He was also the project pilot for the Gulfstream III, performing its first flight in December 1979.
Bob left Grumman in 1981 and joined Gulfstream in Savannah, Georgia, as Director of Flight Operations. In 1985, he was promoted to Vice President of Flight Ops and Quality Control. Bob participated in most of the Gulfstream III and IV record setting flights around world, over the poles, etc.
Some of Bob’s accomplishments in aviation include certified Airline Transport Pilot (G-I, II, III, and IV), single-engine land and multi-engine land-and-sea aircraft. He was a Fellow of Society of Experimental Test Pilots and was elected to the Carrier Test Pilots Hall of Honor on board the USS Yorktown in Charleston, SC in 1991. He was also a long time member of the Cruising Club of America.
In June of 1993, Bob retired from Gulfstream and moved to the Leeward Air Ranch in Ocala, Florida, where he spent the last thirteen years with his wife Sally and their three dachshunds Pfeffer, Minna, and Bella enjoying an active life of flying and traveling.
Bob is survived by his wife Sally, sons Robert K. Smyth, Jr. and Andrew W. Smyth and his two grandchildren, Haven and Freya, all of whom reside in Northern California, and brother Donald Smyth of Sonora, California.
The Smyth family is grateful to Hospice of Marion County and requests that any donations or remembrances be made to that organization.

A life member of AMVETS Post 17 of Sandusky, OH; member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 284, Belleview, FL, and 4th District President of the Dept of FL American Legion Auxiliary, receiving the Outstanding District President, two years in a row, and National Administrative Director of the Sad Sacks (fun & honor group of AMVETS) supporting nurses’ scholarships.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Gerald, Sr. of Ocala, FL; daughters, Malinda Lee Sommers, Collins, OH, and Cherri Lynn Cordes, Lorain, OH; sons, Troy Allen Montgomery, La Grange, KY, and Gerald Lee Montgomery, Jr., Lorain, OH; eight grandchildren; brothers, Robert B. Martin “Marty” David Brabeau
Born May 21, 1941 in Detroit, MI; died Dec. 25, 2011 in Apopka, FL.
He served many years as a volunteer firefighter for South Marion Fire Department as well as Rolling Greens Fire Department # 17. He proudly served our country in the US Army.
Mr. Brabeau retired from E-One. He then went on to work part time for Raney’s Truck Sales.

Evelyn N. Clyatt was born Sept. 28, 1918 in Cordova, AL, and died Dec. 24, 2011 in Summerfield, FL.
She was a member of First Methodist Church of Ocala. She helped to found the Druid Hills United Methodist Church With her husband, Donald Clyatt. Most recently was a member of the Ocklawaha United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Methodist Women.
She was a secretary for Cecil Johnston at South Ocala Elementary School for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Bricker of Belleview, FL; grandchildren, Donald Bricker, Angela Grigsby, Amy Deckard, and Andrea Bricker; great-grandchildren, Aleia Bricker, Amanda Davidson, and Chelsea Deckard McGuire; great-great-grandchildren, Allison Keller, and Molly McGuire; cousins, Jim Wyatt, Shelton Clyatt, and Jim Moorhead. Rachel Davis
Our God has called Rachel Davis to come to her final rest at the age of 88 on December 14th, 2011.
She was a beacon of light for folks to do their best. She raised her family for their lives’ quest. She was a wonderful mother and good friend too; she was always there to help see us through.
Her significant accomplishment was working for Marion County School Board for 20 years (1968-1988) as a teacher’s aid at Belleview Elementary School.
She is survived by her family; daughter Shirley Ritchey, New Mexico; sons M. Everett (Tinker) Davis, Ocala, FL and James G. Davis, Belleview, FL.

Raymond Charles (Ray) Stowell
Raymond Charles (Ray) Stowell passed away at his home on Sunday, December 11th. 2011. He was born in Watervielt, NY on April, 16th, 1934.
Mr. Stowell was retired from Norten Company in NY where he worked for over 30 years, 20 of which he was a union representative.
He retired to Summerfield, Fl in the early 1990’s. He was a newspaper carrier for 9 years for the Star Banner.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Stowell, of Still Water, NY, his daughter Cindy Polcyn (spouse Daniel Polcyn), twin sons Gregory Stowell (spouse Charylene Stowell) Still Water, NY and Kevin Stowell of Port Richey, FL. Grand Children Christopher, Adrian, Matthew, Samantha, Tammy and Gregory. Great Grandchildren Steven, Charlyn, Faith, Grace, Isiah, Evan, Nathanial and Zachiery. Step Great Grandchildren Alexis, Ariana, Ethan, Allison and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Ada Stowell, and siblings Mel, Harrison, George, Connie, Loretta and Raya.

Member of the First Baptist Church of Summerfield, where she was a WMU Director from 1981 to 1989.

Annamae “Mitzie” Burrage
Annamae “Mitzie” Burrage, 63, of Summerfield, FL died Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Tuscany House in Summerfield, FL, following an eight month battle with cancer.
She was born in Stuttgard, Garmany on December 5, 1947; the daughter of Alfred O. Boettger and Anna Mae Boettger. Mitzie grew up in Martin’s Creek, PA; graduated from Easton High School in 1965 and received her Registered Nursing degree from Hahnemann School of Nursing in 1968. Most of her nursing career was spent in the ICU. She also spent ten years with a medical products company, USCI, division of C. R. Barn, Inc., where she created and managed the clinical education department.
Following her retirement as a Case Manager for North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA in 2003, she and husband, Bernard, “Bernie,” retired to Florida where she continued her passion of caring for and helping others by becoming a clown in a local organization in their area of residence. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, FL, the Daughters of American Revolution, and Paula’s Clown Alley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Bernard, “Bernie;” mother, Anna Mae Boettger; two brothers and their wives, Alfred Fritz and Kathy Boettger of Easton, PA, Richard and Wendy Boettger of Texas; niece, Kim and husband, Brendan Foley and their son, Colin; nephew, Alfred Fritz, wife Becky and their son, Fritzie. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Alfred O. Boettger in 1976.
Mitzie never met a stranger; had a beautiful, radiant personality and a smile that could light up the darkest room. She brought happiness to the world.
Memorial service were held at Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, FL on Thursday, December 15, 2011 2PM.

Anna Distefano
Anna DiStefano, 90, went home to the Lord on December 12, 2011. She was born on October 15, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY. She worked in Brooklyn as a seamstress for several years, then retired with her family to Beverly Hills, FL, in 1972. After her husband, John, passed away in 1981, she moved to Ocala and later to Belleview.
She spent the rest of her life as a loving mother and a proud grandmother. Best known for her Italian cooking, many have cherished the wonderful Italian cookies that she would bake.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Ken Nadeau, and her granddaughter, Natalie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17th, at 10:00AM at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Belleview with Fr. David Vivero, officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Nadeau’s home. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala Chapel.

Thomas R. Brown Jr.
Mr. Brown, 76, was born August 15, 1935 in Cleveland, OH; went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2011. He was a University of Florida graduate in August 1957 with a degree in Business Administration.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lora Brown; daughters, Renee’ Tirado and Robbie Browning-Phillips; grandchildren, Robert Browning, Mario Dorado, Jr., Ruben Valdez, Jr., and Tomee Siobhan Mercedes; great-granddaughter, Allanees Mercedes; nephews, Kelly, Kerry, Keith, and Kyle Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Brown, Sr., and Christine Brown; and brother, Donald.
He was truly a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed. Visitation was held Sun., Dec. 11, 2011 12-3PM at HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES, Belleview 352-245-2424. Funeral service were Monday, December 12, 2011 11AM at the funeral home.

William T. “Bill” Mills
William T. “Bill” Mills, 77, passed away at home December 1, 2011. He was born in Wildwood, Florida on March 1, 1934.
Graduated from Summerfield High School and earned a bachelor degree in agriculture from UF. He served in the U.S. Army, was Chief juvenile counselor in Lake County, and retired from CSX Railroad. A deacon for First Baptist Church of Summerfield, he taught Sunday School and served as church treasurer.
Survived by his wife, Jaca (married for 56 years); daughter, Marie Mills, Neptune Beach, FL; son, Buddy Mills, Chuluota, FL (Holly); grandchildren, Ross, Jack and Christine Mills; mother, Angie Marie Mills, Summerfield, FL; sister, Gertrude McCornick (Brian), Castleberry, FL; sister, Emma Tedder-Young (Kenneth), Perry, FL; sister, Darlene Perryman (Mike), Ocala, FL; and sister, Sonya Carroll, Valencia, CA.
Bill loved the Florida Gators, and was an enthusiast of gardening, fishing and depression glass collecting.

Sibyl Nerine Moore of Seven Mile Ford, VA and Belleview, FL, 93, died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Palm Garden in Ocala, FL.
A life-long member of the Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church and attended Belleview United Methodist Church. She was an elementary school teacher for over 40 years in Bristol and Alexandria VA.
Born May 20, 1918, in Seven Mile Ford to the late Wyndham and Maude Stump Moore and preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma Moore Rice and Leona Gay Moore.
Survivors include a niece, Sharon Nichols of Belleview, FL; a nephew, Barry Rice (Deborah) of Baltimore, MD.; three grandnieces, Penny McGowan, Paige Schubert and Patrice May and several great-grand nieces and nephews.

Lori Marilyn Coker Yates, 49, beloved daughter, sister, mother, passed away unexpectedly at her residence November 19, 2011.
She lived most of her life in Belleview. She was employed at Ross Dept. Store in Ocala and K-Mart in Belleview

Hazel Kathleen Moody, 76, of Summerfield passed away on November 25, 2011.
A native of Miami and moved to Belleview in 1980. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 8083.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping, family, and Wednesday poker with the ladies.

Mr. Henderson was born November 20, 1933 in Norwell, MA; died November 18, 2011 in Ocala, FL. Retired from US Air Force, Francis served our country in Korea and Vietnam. Charles Dwight Baum, 87, passed on Saturday, October 8, 2011. He was born in Zanesville, OH and moved to Belleview in 2006 from Enterprise, AL. He was a Master Sergeant with the Army Air Force Signal Corp in WWII. He enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren; his hobbies were collecting and restoring black powder guns and antique clocks.

Locker, Betty A. “Mommo”, age 82 of Tampa, FL, formerly of Tipp City, OH, passed away October 8, 2011. She was born March 30, 1929 in Springfield, OH to the late Clarence and Minnie Lawless. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Locker; and daughter, Sharon Ann Miller.

Betty graduated from Northridge High School, Class of 1946. She married Robert in 1947 and they began their family together. She was a former employee of DARE Company, Elder Beerman, and Palmer and Proto Plastics. After retiring, Betty moved to Florida and was a former member of New Port Richey Baptist Church.

Rocky L. Moreland, 59 died Wednesday Oct. 5, 2011. He was a member of the Heart Ablaze Church were he served as a Deacon and Elder and was an Evangelist/gospel Minister. He loved sharing the word of Jesus to all people and would say Praise the Lord all the time. He used John 3:16 when he talk to people. He also love to sing.

Mary Dugan Craven, 91, died in Ocala, FL on October 24, 2011. She was born on April 23, 1920 in Nelson County, KY, moving to Hollywood, FL in the 50’s, then to Summerfield in 1970.
Mary was a member of Belleview First Methodist Church where she was involved in many activities. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Belleview Garden Club, and numerous church groups. She loved her family, friends, church, scalloping at Cedar Key and gospel music. Mary celebrated Thanksgiving by having family, friends, and neighbors to her home. Her hobbies were flower gardening, travel and attending race events with her sons.
She is survived by daughters, Mary A. (Frank) Ferguson of Zephyrhills, FL, Betty Smith of Ocala and Emily (Bo) Giddens of Estero; sons, Perry H. Craven, Charles R. (Connie) Craven, and Steve (Jeanne) Craven all of Summerfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Craven and son, Patrick M. Craven.

Locker, Betty A. “Mommo”, age 82 of Tampa, Fl, formerly of Tipp City, OH, passed away October 8, 2011. She was born March 30, 1929 in Springfield, OH to the late Clarence and Minnie Lawless. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Locker; and daughter, Sharon Ann Miller.

Betty graduated from Northridge High School, Class of 1946. She married Robert in 1947 and they began their family together. She was a former employee of DARE Company, Elder Beerman, and Palmer and Proto Plastics. After retiring, Betty moved to Florida and was a former member of New Port Richey Baptist Church.

Patricia W. Smith, 68, died Tuesday, September 27,2011 at Tuscany House. She was lifetime resident of Marion County and was a homemaker, bookkeeper and partner in S&S Ranch. She was a life time member of Weirsdale Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder. She also spent time collecting donations for needy families during the holidays. She was a 1961 graduate of Lake Weir High School where she was a cheerleader and majorette. She also served on numerous reunion committees. She collected all things like elephants, porcelain dolls, enjoyed crafting, gardening, reading, Humphrey Bogart movies, and spending time with her dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin “Frank” Smith: sons, Darrell D. Smith, Darren F. Smith, granddaughters, Casey Dawn Smith, Haley Brooke Smith and sister Charlene W. Preston, all of Weirsdale.

ROBERT “PETE” REYNOLDS
Mr. Robert “Pete” Reynolds passed away at his residence in Summerfield, FL on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Pete was born in Middlefield, NY on July 30, 1940.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne. Pete was an avid outdoorsman with a great love of hunting, NASCAR and his dogs. He moved to Summerfield in 1971 and was employed with Highland Tractor Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob and Pauline (Wood) Reynolds of Middlefield, NY. EUGENE LEE HORNE
Eugene Lee Horne, 87, beloved husband of Lois A. Horne, entered into the presence of God on Saturday, September 10, 2011.
Mr. Horne was born on June 28, 1924 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II serving as a tank instructor.
He graduated from Little Falls High School in Little Falls, NJ; and attended Montclair State University, Hope college and received his bachelors and masters degrees from Western Michigan University. Mr. Horne then had a long career as a teacher and administrator in Plainwell, Michigan, Alachua County and Broward County, Florida. He was also an adjunct professor for the University of Florida and Broward College.
Mr. Horne started the first distributive education program in Florida in 1956 at Gainesville High School. He was a dynamic teacher who cared about his students and was director (principal) of Sheridan Vocational Center in Hollywood, FL and Broward County Vocational Center North in Oakland Park, FL.
He is survived by his wife Lois; son the Rev, Fr. Kenneth Horne of Ocala; daughter Merrilee H. Beliveau (Greg) of Leesburg; granddaughters Heather B. Tutor (Aaron) of the Woodlands, TX, Danielle B. Magamoll (Karson) and great-grandson Keaton Tyler Magamoll of Fruitland Park, FL. Mr. Horne was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg.

HOWARD OLIVER WAKELIN
Rev. Howard Oliver Wakelin passed away on Monday September 19, 2011 with family gathered at Tuscany Hospice House. Rev Wakelin, born, raised, and graduated in Scott, Sask. Canada, and married Marion (May) Kamp on Friday, November 13th, 1942.
He served the Canadian Air Force during WWII and held a B.A. from Victoria College-Toronto Ont, and M.A. from Emmanual College in Toronto. Rev. Wakelin ministered in the Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) congregations throughout Canada and the US from 1950-1986. He was a member of 1st Christian Church- Ocala, Howard taught an adult Sunday school class and was a member of the choir. Howard enjoyed golf, bowling, and curling, and had a knack for fixing things.
Rev. Wakelin is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Surviving-wife, Marion, children Cecil Wakelin of Oviedo Fl, Brenda Irvin, Summerfield Fl, James Wakelin of Ottumwa, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters & 1 brother. NATHAN THOMAS HAYES
Nathan Thomas Hayes, age 10, died Saturday, September 24th after being struck by a car on Highway 44A in Eustis, Florida. Nathan was born June 30, 2001 in Eustis. He was in the 4th grade at Mt. Dora Christian Home & Bible School. He loved and played all sports with basketball being his favorite and the Boston Celtics his favorite team. Nathan was a true gym rat and an accomplished 10 year old player spending hour after hour shooting his basketball in the gym where his dad coached and at his grandparents home in Belleview.
Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Steven and Cherie Hayes and his 14 year old sister Kaylee, grandparents, Peek and Linda Hames of Belleview, Junior and Mildred Hayes of Norcross, Georgia, great grandparents, Ellington and Zodie Whitescarver of Ocala, plus many relatives, classmates and friends that will cherish his memory forever.

Philip Lyman Benedict was born May 13, 1934. He went home with the Lord on September 19, 2011.

Melanie L. Jacquet, 60, of Belleview, died on Saturday, August 20, 2011, in her home. She was born in Jamestown, NY to Elizabeth and Gerald Wallace Almgren. She was the oldest child of six.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Leon V. Jacquet, Jr; her two sons: Emmanuel C. Jacquet, Ocala, FL and Jonathan G. Jacquet, Athens, GA.; her daughter, Star J. Murphy, Belleview, FL. She was also a proud grandma of five grandchildren and one step-grandson.

Arlene Ann Goold, 84, formally of Belleview, died on August 26, 2011 at her home in Quincy Mass. She was born August 22, 1927 in Mechanic Falls Maine and moved to Florida in 1988. She attended Belleview United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son and a daughter, Steven and Peggy Ladd, of Princeton, Kentucky (formally of Belleview) and Lois Ann and Ed Drukman of Weymouth, Mass. Three grandchildren, Damon Ladd/Thomas of Grayson, Ga., Jeremy Ladd of Duluth Ga. and Jeffrey S. Ladd of Ocala, Fl., four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for William “Billy” E. Ranck, 63 years of age, from Summerfield FL. born in Cherry Hill, NJ, will be from 1 to 4pm on Sunday, July 24 at 14501 SE 90th Ave. Summerfield FL.
Mr. Ranck passed away of natural causes on July 8, 2011 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Ranck was an over the road truck driver for 43 plus years for PTL truck lines along with many other companies in his long career. His hobbies included stock car racing as an avid fan and pit crew member along with motorcycle riding and spending time with hi~ friends and family.
Mr. Ranck is survived by his wife Gloriann Ranck of 6 years, daughters Lorianne Rainey of Mooresvile NC, Lisa Giambrone of Cherry Hill, NJ, 6 grandchildren 1 step daughter, Christine Gagnon and 1 step son.

Col. Edgar Harold Rugenstein, Retired, age 74, died at The Villages Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. He was born in Indianapolis, IN and moved to this area from Washington, DC 8 years ago.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Belleview where he served as a Verger, past Senior Warden, licensed Eucharist minister, and was chairman of the Building Committee. Mr. Rugenstein was also a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church, Brotherhood of St. Andrews, Golf Club, and Trivia Club. He was a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Army serving in VietNam. He enjoyed water skiing, fishing, camping, boating, golf and playing the saxophone.
He is survived by his wife, Jody Rugenstein, Summerfield; daughter and son in law, Debbie and Gary Loyd, Springfield, MO; son and daughter in law, Col. She was the wife of the late Lee Malcolm Gordon, Sr. with whom she recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on November 30, 2010 just two short weeks before his passing, also at Sacred Heart Home in Hyattsville, MD.
Born on December 1, 1922 in Togus, ME, the daughter of the late George S. and Agatha M. (Hatch) Cates, Sr., she was a longtime resident of Kents Hill, ME, Ocala, FL and Riverdale Park, MD.
Mrs. Gordon worked at Hope Wills Laundry, Kents Hill, ME; as an Office Manager at Saunders Manufacturing Company, Readfield, ME; and a Health Care Provider, Belleview, FL. She was a member of the Crystal Club of the Kents Hill Memorial Church, Kents Hill, ME; a 4-H Leader; Worthy Matron Lafayette Chapter Eastern Star #50; an active member of the Readfield Lion’s Club and an active participant of the Friendly Neighbors Club of the Belleview Methodist Church, Belleview, FL.
She was a long time member of the Fairbanks Family in America. She was a member of the Belleview Methodist Church, Belleview, FL, and the First United Methodist Church, Hyattsville, MD. She was an active supporter of several veteran’s organizations and children’s homes.
She is survived by: two daughters Barbara (Gordon) Hewett of Clarkston, GA and Martha (Gordon) Pontes of Riverdale Park, MD; a son Lee Malcolm Gordon Jr. (Eleanor) of Winthrop, ME; six grandchildren: Thomas, Douglas and Michael Gordon, Kathleen (Hewett) Warner, Sandra (Gordon) Brann and Barbara (Pontes) Zeller; eight great-grandchildren; one brother George S. Cates, Jr. of Bergmann, AR and two sisters Nellie E. (Cates) Renwick (Earl) of Jacksonville, FL, Lillian Geneva “Gene” (Cates) Quade of San Antonio, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Lee Malcolm Gordon Sr. this past December 15th, her son James R. Gordon, her son-in-law, George M. Pontes, her brothers Kenneth P., Gilbert C. and Gleason B. Cates, and her sister Elzina M. “Tilly” (Cates) Fuller Gwinn.
A memorial service for her and her husband was held with full Masonic honors by members of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #48 on Tuesday June 7, 2011 at the Knowlton Hewins Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, ME with burial to follow in the family plot at the Readfield Corner Cemetery in Readfield, ME.

Robert “RJ” Stewart, age 92, died at Tuscany Hospice House on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. He was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina and moved to this area 29 years ago. He was a building contractor and owner/operator of a grocery store and service station.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Ocala, a lifetime member of NRA and served on the Board of Director of the Carolina Gun Club. Mr. Stewart was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army Air Corp.

Max Young, age 77, died January 1, 2011 in The Villages, Florida. He was born on January 24, 1932 in Millport, Alabama.
He was an active member of the Church of Christ Belleview. Mr. Young was a member of the Belleview Masonic Lodge # 95 and he was a past Belleview City Commissioner. He was the owner of A & M Mobile Home Park for 26 years in Belleview. He loved gospel bluegrass music and enjoyed playing the bass guitar.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Alma of Belleview, Florida; daughters, Derendia Hutcherson of Millport, Alabama, Kathy Bauer of Belleview, Florida, and Lanita McKenzie of Millport, Alabama; brother, Don Young of Sparr, Florida; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Edward Patrick (Pat) Dunlap, age 93, of Greenville, WV, passed away on December 8, 2010 in Greenbrier Valley Hospital following a long illness.
He was a winter resident for 6 months a year for 30 years in Summerfield, FL, was a member of VFW Post 8083 at Belleview and attended Weirsdale Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Claire Sumner Streets passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in Boulder, Colorado. She was born in Belleview, FL on July 11, 1918 to R. L. and Virginia Sumner.
She is predeceased by her husband S. E. “Bud” Streets, one son Barry Streets, her parents and her brothers, R. L. “Bud” Sumner, Arthur D. Sumner, Burton Sumner and her sister Fay Sumner Hatcher. She is survived by her son Gary Streets and his wife Jan. Also her daughter-in-law Julie Streets, one grandson, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held graveside on Friday, November 19, 2010.
Claire’s held the memories of younger days in Belleview close to her heart. She was a lifetime member of the Belleview/South Marion Historical Society. She sent a child’s china tea set she got when she was about nine years old to the Historical Society for display. She felt it should be here since Belleview is where it came from. Her father was the Depot Agent for the railroad in Belleview for many years and his telegraph equipment is on display at the Historical Society. She went to school in the school house that stood where the walking trail is at Lake Lillian and the school house that is now the Belleview City Hall. She stayed in touch with friends here because she cherished their friendships and wanted to know how Belleview was doing. She has visited many times over the years with her sister, Fay Hatcher.

Norene A. Hughes, age 78, of Summerfield, FL. formerly of Sidney, OH, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL. She was born December 17, 1931 in Sidney, the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Cotterman.
On June 19, 1948 she married Walden S. Five grandchildren, Megan Mummey, Stacey & Brad Goffena, Jamie & Lynne Schnuth, Jason & Leslie Hughes, Jari & Jason King and eight great grandchildren, Cameron Goffena, Paige Schnuth, Collin, Devon and Brandon Hughes, Rebecca King, Zach and Alex Crim. One brother, Ed Cotterman and his wife Shirley of Sidney, OH. and one step-brother, Floyd Meiller of Alcoa, TN.
Mrs. Hughes was a seamstress and retired from the Holloway Sportswear Co. in Jackson Center.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM., November 19,2010 at the Cromes Funeral Home & Crematory, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, OH with Dr. Keith Wagner officiating.

Earl Raymond Stewart, age 88, was born on August 23, 1922 in Dahoga, Pennsylvania and died on November 16, 2010 in Summerfield, Florida.
Mr. Stewart served our country during WW II in the US Army.

Alfred “Al” Andrew Madore, age 78, died at Shands at the University of Florida November 8, 2010. He was born in Morrisville, Vermont and moved to this area from Miami in 1978. He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. Madore started Al & Sons Millwork in 1978 with his wife, Rebecca, who predeceased him. He served on the board of Foxwood Farms Home Owners Association. He was very proud of his family, and enjoyed golf, woodworking and traveling.
Mr. Madore is survived by his wife, Judith, Ocala; daughters, Georgette (Ed) Mottl, Ocala, Millie (Todd) Kaufman, Greenwood, SC, Valerie (Steven) Belanger, Montpelier, VT; sons, Michael (Candace) Madore, Belleview, Kevin (Melanie) Madore, Belleview, Steve (Carren) Warren, Plainfield, VT; sisters, Therese Ferland, Winter Haven, FL, Claire Chouinard, Winter Haven, FL; brother, Urbain Madore, Orlando; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and is preceded in death by one grandson.

Roberta L. “Bobbi” Harrell, age 100, passed away August 29, 2010. in Livonia, Michigan.
She was born in Russelville, Kentucky on December 19,1909. Her family hosted a 100th birthday party on December 19, 2009 in Monroe, Michigan. She was a long time resident of Monroe,Toledo, Belleview, Florida and Livonia.
She was an active member of the Lucas County Democratic Women’s Club, worked at the Lucas County Board of Elections, Ohio Bureau of Molar Vehicles and AAA of Northwest Ohio. Her primary job was homemaker and “Mom” who was always there for her family. She was a beautiful, kind, gracious and much loved lady who had many friends across the country. In Toledo she was a member of Collingwood Methodist Church and Belleview United Methodist Church In Belleview, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Arthur L., who died in the 1965 Palm Sunday tornado; sons, James and Ronald E.; son-in-law, Floyd E. Wetmer; sisters, Lois Wood and Veta Yoakum and grandson, Bruce B. Harrell. She is survived by daughters. Cindy L. Holewinski, of Sylvania, Ruth Ann Wetmer, of Sylvania. Linda E. Parker, of Livonia and son, Frank D. (Ronata) Harrell, of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Bryan (Kyoko) Harrell, Tokyo, Japan, Veronica (William) Demmy, of Toledo, Victoria Naksho of Toledo, Kimberly Montgomery of Roseville, California, James A. Virginia V. Marszalek, age 85, died on September 25, 2010 in Belleview, Florida. She was born on April 13, 1925 in Gaylord, Michigan. Mr. & Mrs. Marszalek moved to Florida in 1954.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, a member of the Polish National Club, the VFW, and the American Legion.
Virginia Marszalek is survived by her only son, Martin M. Marszalek; daughter in law, Susan P. Marszalek; and one grandson, Martin Edward Marszalek.

ROBBY VAN SWEARINGEN
Mr. Robby Van Swearingen, age 67, of Pedro, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Tuscany House Hospice of Summerfield, Florida. He was bom on September 29, 1942 at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida and has been a lifetime resident of the Pedro, Florida area, owning and operating a ranch and farm. He also had a family business in Pedro, the S&S Meat Packers, where he butchered, cut and wrapped meat; did the old-fashioned dry sugar cure & smoked way and also made and smoked sausage, for a number of years. He also worked in the heavy construction and road building industry for several years.
He along with many other volunteers, helped establish and build the Pedro Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a volunteer Firefighter for over 16 years, working to the rank of Fire chief. He has been a member of the Pedro Baptist Church since he was 14 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn F. Swearingen of Pedro, FL.; his 2 loving daughters, Frances Walton and Barbara Swearingen both of Pedro, FL.; his one son, Robby Van Swearingen, Jr. of Citra, FL. and his 3 loving grandsons, Robby Van Swearingen, III, Ronny Swearingen and Justin Wilkerson, all of Pedro, FL.
There was a "Celebration of Life" service on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Pedro Baptist Church, Pedro, Florida. The Interment followed in Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford. FL. EMMA THERESA BOGATH
Emma Theresa Bogath, age 88, of Belleview, Florida, passed away September 15, 2010 at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida. Born in Manhattan, New York, she resided in Florida for over 39 years.
Emma was a baker for Hanscom Bakery located in New York. After marrying Fred they moved to Montville, New Jersey. Emma was a very popular school cafeteria manager who was loved and respected by all staff and children. She loved baseball, teaching water aerobics, camping, boating, fishing and clamming. Emma was also an award winning shuffle boarder with many trophies. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, playing cards and writing entertaining letters to her family and friends.
Preceding her death was her son Gary Carl Bogath, her brother John Jurena and sister Anna Neumann.
She is survived by her husband Frederick Carl Bogath of Belleview, Florida, son Frederick John Bogath, daughter-in-law Sharon Bogath of Burien, Washington and her daughter Gail McDorman with future son-in-law Stephen D. Smith of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Emma has six grandchildren: Frederick Jason Bogath, Gina (Bogath) Stoess, husband George Stoess, Christopher James Bogath, Katherine Bogath, Christina (Rahija) Moore, husband Tim Moore, Theresa McDorman, and a Bogath/Stoess greatgrandchild due January 2011.

GRACE E. GALLAWAY LARSEN
Grace E. Gallaway Larsen, 94, of Belleview passed away of leukemia on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Marion County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Howard F. Larsen, Sr., and her son-in-law James Spalding. Grace is survived by her two daughters, Nina A. Spalding Larsen of Belleview, FL, and Karen L. (Kevin) Gehrmann of Portage, WI; her son, Howard F.(Risa) Larsen, Jr . of Cary, NC; two grandsons, Robert J. (Kristen) Davis, Todd A. (Tabitha) Gehrmann, two great-grandchildren, Christian and Trinity, her sister, Edith Gonzalez, and four nieces, Joyce Gregory, Theresa Plante, Susan Bielski, and Anita House.
She and Howard were married in 1936 in Chicago, IL. They made their lives together living in Wisconsin, Arizona, Kentucky and Indiana before settling in Florida in 1968.
After the death of her husband in 1993, Grace found her calling in many volunteer efforts. While trying to help some friends deal with health issues, she realized that Meals on Wheels was not available in Belleview. She and Carol Pauzé worked diligently for months to make that happen. Grace was a volunteer with SHINE, Senior Services of Marion County, Big Sun Volunteer Center, AARP of Belleview, also serving as president for several years. She served as President of Belleview United Methodist Church (BUMC) United Methodist Women, was a member of Church Women United in Ocala, and served as Historian of the Leesburg District United Methodist Women’s organization. She was a volunteer of the Kids Club of BUMC and for the United Methodist Reading Program in which she went to nursing homes and read to the residents.

Michael Horhota, age 90, deceased at his residence on August 15, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and came here from Brooklyn 35 years ago.
Michael retired from the New York Police Department after 30 years of service, attaining the final rank of Sergeant. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview, FL and a member of VFW Post #8083. Michael was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy.

CALLIE ELIZABETH PINDER
Callie Elizabeth Pinder (nee Perez), aged 62 years, of Palm Harbor, passed away on August 5, 2010 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Juliette Ann, her father: Hugh H. Hinde, and her brother: H. Leroy Hinde. She is survived by her husband E. F. Pinder, Jr. of Palm Harbor, her sons Matthew (wife Jennifer) and John Pinder, both of Palm Harbor, her mother Barbara Ann Hinde of Ocklawaha, Fl, her brother Stanley Hinde (wife Liza) of Ocklawaha, and two grandchildren, Emma Juliette Pinder and William Franklin Pinder.
Mrs. Pinder was a lifelong educator, holding a BS degree from Florida Atlantic University and an MA from Nova Southeastern University, and served in Monroe County (Key West) and Pinellas County for the thirty-three years of her career.
She began as a physical education teacher and made the transition to teaching social studies in the mid-1980s. The bulk of her career was spent at Palm Harbor Middle School, where she was one of the first faculty members to open the school.
Memorial services were held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Belleview, Florida on August 10, 2010 and interment took place in the Ocklawaha Cemetery.

ROBERT O. DILKES
Robert O. Dilkes, 88, of Ocklawaha, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Sylvia's Hospice House. A native of Bridgeton, NH, he moved to Ocklawaha from Hedgesville, WV in the 1980's. Mr. Dilkes operated Dilkes Welding Service for about 30 years before retiring. He also served in the Army during WW II and Korea. After retirement he was involved with Antique Tractors, being a long time member of the Florida Flywheeler and North Florida Flywheeler Associations.
Mr. Dilkes was preceded in death by his first wife, A. Edna Ross-Dilkes, infant daughter and his second wife, Dale Hendel-Dilkes. Survivors include his wife, Alvene Johnson-Dilkes; son and daughter-in-law, Ike and Debbie Dilkes of Cordova, MD; daughter, Gloria Shade of Martinsburg, WV; 3 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thomas was a truck driver by trade. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview and a member of Teamsters Union Local 107. Thomas was a Veteran of WWII.

JILLIAN LORI SHELLEY
Jillian Lori Shelley, age 26, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 9:45 pm on Baseline Road, just about a mile north of the Belleview Medical Center.
Jillian was born in Houston, Texas on July 18, 1983, to her parents Dr. Ron and Peggy Shelley.
Miss Shelley is survived by her parents, a Grandmother, two Aunts, an Uncle and brothers and sisters. She also leaves behind a cat named "Annie" and "Peanut", a Chihuahua.
She resided with her father, Dr. Shelley, in a two story house on Lake Lillian in Belleview. She was preparing to celebrate her 27th Birthday on Saturday.

Jose M. Hernandez-Iriarry, age 84, died on July 19, 2010 at Tuscany House. He was born in Puerto Rico and was a retired Policeman.
Jose came to this area in 1981 from Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Church of Grace in Belleview. Jose was a Veteran of Korea, serving in the United States Army. He received the Medal of Honor, Silver Star and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his spouse, Aurea Hernandez of Summerfield, FL., son Jose M. Hernandez of Peoria, IL., daughter Ivette Hernandez of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, brother Nicolas Hernandez of Camuy, Puerto Rico, 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.

Ann E. Johnson, 76, died at Tuscany House on June 21, 2010. She was born in Burlington Flats, NY and moved to this area from Leesburg, Fl in 1979.
She was a member of Community Baptist Church of Summerfield where she was the organist and social community chairperson. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of TOPS, Club 386, Belleview. She was a corporate accountant.
She is survived by her husband, Monroe Johnson, Belleview; son, Leslie (Debbie) Holiday, Jr., Belleview; stepdaughter, Sherry Ann (Sean) McAlister, Cincinnati, OH; son Randy (Dawn) Van Alstine, Lady Lake; daughter, Kelly Robinson, Ocala; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

JOHN RAY LEO
John Ray Leo, recently of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Medical Center on June 18, 2010, after a brief illness. He was 82.
John was born in Bridgeport to Pasquale and Giulia Pelham Leo. He graduated from Central High School and served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He spent his “first life” in Connecticut residing in Stratford, and was a co-owner of Temple Drywall, Inc. until 1975. He spent his “second life” in Belleview, Florida and, with his wife, the former Sylvia D’Amico, ran a successful Italian restaurant, until their retirement in 1995.
John is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 59 years; his son, Pasquale Leo and his wife Jacqueline of Monroe; his daughter, Gina Leo Brown and her husband Ken of Alpharetta, GA; his sister, Margaret Lucarelli of Florida; his grandchildren: Amanda Leo of Trumbull; Aaron Leo and his wife Amy of Trumbull; Lauren and Nicole Brown of Alpharetta; and his beloved great-grandchildren John Ray and Giulia Leo.

Penny H. McHone, 69, of Summerfield, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in Ocala. Born on May 26, 1941 in Winston-Salem, N.C. she moved here in 198Œ5 from Rural Hall, N.C.
For many years she was employed with Lockheed-Martin Aerospace, Silver Spring Shores., retiring in 2004. Penny was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Fruitland Park, FL. She loved fishing, cooking and "being with her family".
Penny was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Donald McHone in 2006. She is survived by 3 daughters: Cynthia Dunkin, Joanne (Bob) Rodgers and Kimberly (Pedro) Zavala, all of Summerfield. Marlyn O'Neal Witt, age 66, passes away on May 22,2010 in Lake City, FL, Hospice. A native of Belleview, she graduated from Lake Weir High School.
She became office manager and Realtor for Block Bros. in Belleview for 16 years. She also worked for Moutz Realty in Ocala for several years.
She was predeceased by parents, Roy and Amanda O'Neal, brother WM. C. O'Neal. Survivors are husband of 46 years, James Roley Witt of Lake City, FL, daughter Allison Abreu (Jason), sons Michael and Christopher Witt of Ocklawaha, FL, granddaughters Allysa, Bushnell, Lannie, sisters Barbara "Bobbi" Lewis of Ocala, FL, Doris Taylor of Ocklawaha, FL, Ann Turner (Moe), brother H.L. Nancy O'Neal Chai, age 48, passed away on May 21, 2010 in Dallas Methodist Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Belleview, FL. She was on December 30, 1961.
Nancy was predeceased in death by her parents Wm. C. and Patricia O'Neal and grandparents, Roy and Amanda O'Neal. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Len Chai, sons Anthony and Matthew, all of Cedar Hills, Texas, sisters Cheryl Bonin (Danny), Linda O'Neal, brother Wm. C. "Bill" O'Neal (Sherrie) of Homosassa, FL and numerous aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Lake Weir High School, attended CFCC, then went into US Army service for 5 years, worked for AAFES for 16 years. She was a recipient of many honorary awards for service including a gold piece signed by President George Bush, as the first AAFES team to arrive in Iraq, Bagdad, to set up and serve the Armed Forces for Operation Enduring Freedom. She served in Iraq for 3 operations.
Her service was held on May 25, 2010 at Fayme Funeral Home in Dallas Texas.

A funeral service for Russell Howson, age 76, was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in the chapel of Constantino Funeral and Cremation Services, 935 E. New York Ave, Deland, FL. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Purdom Cemetery in Barberville, FL.
Mr. Howson passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 6, 2010. He was born on April 26, 1934 in Eubank, Kentucky and he was a member of the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. He was an awesome man of God and enjoyed fishing and tending to his orange grove that consisted of almost 400 trees.

HART WATSON
Hart Watson, age 83, of Belleview, FL, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010. He was born in Ft. Meade, FL on May 17, 1926. Hart was descendent of a Pioneer family of Polk County Florida. He moved to Belleview from Bartow in 1982. Hart worked at Estech Phosphate as a miner for 35 years and was the co-owner/operator of Nell’s Fashions in Fort Meade, FL and Bartow, FL. He was also a volunteer missionary.
He served in the US Navy during WWII. Hart was a Life Member of the American Legion of Belleview for 60 years and was the Past Commander of the American Legion of Ft. Meade. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Belleview, FL and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ft. Meade, FL when he resided in that area.
Hart loved fishing, reading, clowning around, gardening and ministry. He was most proud of his family, church and living a hard working life.
During his life Hart was a member of Mission Service Corps, Christian Service Corps, Campers on Mission, Southwest Area Resort Ministries and Good News Ministry of the Marion Baptist Association. He also served as a Director for the Baptist Men’s Ministry of the Marion County Baptist Association for ten years.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 56 years Nell Henderson Watson; daughter Jenny K. (Charles) Hancock of Bartow, FL; daughter Sharon W. (Lonnie) Kress of Belleview, FL; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends across the United States. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas L. Watson, mother Teddie S. Hart Watson and a sister Betty Lou Elwell.
A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Belleview, FL on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 6pm. A graveside service was held at Evergreen Cemetery in Ft. Meade, FL (Polk County) on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

Amelia H. Hughes, of Belleview, died Monday, April 29th at Munroe Emergency center at TimberRidge. Born In the "Meadows" area of Philadelphia, PA, Mrs. Hughes retired from banking in Las Vegas, Nevada and has been a longtime resident of Ocala, Florida. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed traveling, was a good cook and baker, and will be remembered for her exceptional care and adoption of animals.
She liked to say she was hitched in the great state of Wyoming and was married for 50 years to her late husband Walter D. Hughes. She was also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Narbutis and her siblings Jay, Albert and Joseph and niece Christine.
She is Survived by her nieces Helen, Theresa, and Anne and Nephews Albert and Stephen as well as her sister-in-law Alice and close friends Susan and Steven Miller and all of their-extended families.

Verlon M. Lewis, 78, died at Oakhurst Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on April 18, 2010. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky and moved to this area in 1971.
He was Baptist and a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Lewis was owner/operator of Lewis Car and Stereo and at one point was an electrical contractor in Maryland. He enjoyed sports, yard work and wood work. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Air Force.

Joseph W. "Bill" Reid, 67 of Belleview, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010. He was born on August 12, 1942 in Alexandria, VA. He was the owner and operator of Reid's Lawn Care and Landscaping in Belleview for 10 years. Prior to that, he owned a landscaping and nursery business in Gulf Breeze for 20 years.
Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Reid. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Nancy F. Reid of Belleview; his seven sons, Joseph William Reid Jr., Thomas Howard Reid, Joseph Edward Reid, Warren Allen (Pete) Reid, Michael Allen Medeiros Jr., Anthony Nicholas Medeiros, Adam Robert Medeiros and 12 grandchildren.

Chauna Kristine Johnston, age 42, died at West Marion Community Hospital March 27, 2010. She was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina and was a civil designer for 20 years for Burrell Engineering.
Chauna was a member of Westport High School Booster Club, volunteer cheerleading coach for the Marion County Youth Football League and a stock car driver at Ocala Speedway.
She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family.

Ann Geiger Pettis, age 76, died on March 18, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Valrico, FL and raised in Citra, making her home in Marion County.
Ann was a waitress and enjoyed being around her family, friends and dogs. Her hobbies included working with her flowers, camping, fishing and doing activities with the motorcycle group "Horse Country Cruisers".

Stephen Samuel McIntyre, 49, a fourth generation Belleview resident, went home to be with the Lord March 6, 2010 under the loving care of family at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl. Mr. McIntyre was a supervisor in the Northern Transportation & Distribution Storerooms for Progress Energy. He was a graduate of Lake Weir High School in 1978 and attended Central Florida Community College of Ocala, Fl. Mr. McIntyre was a member of both the Maricamp Road Church of Christ of Ocala, and First Baptist Church of Belleview.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jeanette Kinney McIntyre of Belleview; two sons: Travis Darren McIntyre and Tyler Robert McIntyre, both of Belleview; mother: Mary Ann Hames McIntyre of Belleview; brother: Mark Irving McIntyre and wife Leila and children: Tonya, Meghann, and Dustin of Belleview; sister: Tamela “Tami” Ann McIntyre of Belleview. AUDREY E. PERKINS
Audrey E. Perkins, age 94, died on March 8, 2010 at Tuscany House Hospice. She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and came to this area from Salinas, CA in October 2005.
Audrey was a retired Navy Secretary (Chief Yeoman 2nd Class) in the Navy from 1943 to 1974. She was a Navy WAVE during World War II, stationed in Pearl Harbor from 1964 to 1968. Received the Navy Achievement Medal, 6 Good Conduct Awards and awarded the Navy Commendation Award.
Audrey enjoyed pets, especially her cat, Holly. She traveled extensively with the Navy going to every country except Korea during her lifetime.

Gertrude Ethel (Trudy) Voss, 95, was born November 12, 1914 in Minneapolis, MN. She died January 30, 2010 in MN. Mrs. Voss lived in Belleview, FL, from 1977 to 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene O. Voss, parents, 1 brother, and 3 sisters. She is survived by a son, William (Cheryl) Voss, and daughter, Donna Voss Dobbs, both of MN, 1 sister, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and loving friends.

EUGENE M. STEVENS, III
Eugene M. Stevens, III, age 77, died at Munroe Regional Medical Center on March 8, 2010. He was born in Evanston, Illinois and moved to this area from Bailey's Harbor, Wisconsin in 2002.
Eugene retired from Sales/Marketing for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. He was a member of Sonshine Ministries, Del Webb Veterans Association, enjoyed jazz, antique cars and baseball.
Mr. Stevens was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Stevens in Summerfield, FL, daughter Lauri (Michael) Hogenkamp of Grayslake, IL, sons Paul (Mary) Stevens of Greenback, TN, Andrew (Wendy) Stevens of Osceola, IN, Timothy (Amy) Stevens of Livingston, MT, sister Katherine Stevens Roberts of Evanston, IL and 11 Grandchildren.

Thomas R. Smith, age 56, died on March 7, 2010 at Duvall Presbyterian Group Home in Glenwood, FL. He was born in Belvidere, Illinois.
He lived in Ft. Lauderdale when at the age of seven, and in the second grade, he was hit by a car and severely injured.

Walter Bartlett, age 81, died at his residence on February 28, 2010. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut and came to this area in 1992 from Farmington, Connecticut.
Walter was a Banking Clerk in the Trust Department and a Protestant by faith. He enjoyed going to the Senior Centers, playing the keyboard and loved gospel music.

JEAN MARIE (SKILTON) LEJEUNE
Jean Marie (Skilton) Lejeune, died in Ocala on July 18, 2009. She was 87. Jean was born in New York City and at a young age was adopted by Irving and Frances Skilton (and their daughter Alma (Skilton) Yates) in Hartford, CT.
Jean married Charles Lejeune and they lived in Virginia for 30 years until Charlie's death. During that time, Jean pursued a career of custom book binding for county records and a passion for ceramics firing and painting.
In later years, Jean moved to Ocala, Florida, where she met her second partner, Herbert Hallgren. They lived in Ocala for over 25 years before Herb passed away and Jean passed shortly after.
Jean is survived by her nephews Alan Yates and Roger Yates, Eileen Yates (wife of Jeffrey Yates) and five great nieces and nephews. Jean will be remembered as the optimist who always had a smile (often mischievous) and a ready joke to tell. She is greatly missed.

Mr. Marvin "Gene" Goolsby Jr., age 53, beloved husband and soul mate of 25 years Denise Georgetti Goolsby, passed away suddenly on Wednesday February 17th, 2010 due to heart failure in Belleview.
He was a life long resident of Marion County and was a graduate from Lake Weir High School. He later went on to Heavy Equipment Operating School, where he received his certificates. Gene owned a small Framing Company for 6 years named Jobs of Merit, Inc which was very successful. He LOVED his NASCAR, and rooted for #17 Matt Kenseth who drove the DeWalt Car. Gene also loved football. He was a Miami Dolphins Fan. The Florida Keys is where Gene and his wife shared many wonderful memories of Deep Sea Fishing and swimming with the dolphins every year for vacation.
Besides his wife Denise, he is survived by his son, Michael Gene Goolsby of Ocala and 3 grandchildren Collin, Hunter and Megan; Daughter in law – Leslie Goolsby of Ocala; Mother – Yvonne Martin of Summerfield; Sister - Jana Caswell and husband Dennis of Niceville; Brothers - Pat Duke and wife Lea of Summerfield; Terry Martin and wife Vanessa of Inverness; Steve Martin and wife Denise of Jacksonville, Mother in law Shirley Serrano of Milford Ct, Father in law Frank Georgetti of Belleview, Brother in Law's Michael Georgetti and wife Lynn of Milford Ct and Dominick Georgetti of Belleview, Step Mother in law Ev Helfinstine and husband Mike of Belleview, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Marvin E Goolsby Sr. and Loving Step-Father Frank C. Martin and Father in law Robert Serrano.

JOHN SAMUEL PALETTA, SR
In loving memory of John Samuel Paletta, Sr, 80, who succumbed to a long illness on Sunday, February 7, 2010. He was born in Mt. Claire, West Virginia and moved to Elkton, MD, from there to Marathon Key in 1980. In 1990, he moved to Belleview, FL, where he worked as an Auto Body and Repairman. He served twelve years in the Air Force and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and going to the casino. He leaves his wife of fifty years, Mary Sue Paletta of Belleview, FL, sons John S, Paletta, Jr. of Reynoldsville, WV, Keith and Donna Paletta and their children Elizabeth and Phillip of Shinnston, WV, Dominick C, Paletta (deceased), daughters Robin S. Paletta (George) of Belleview, FL (deceased), her children Jennifer George of Whitestone, VA, and son John R. George (Paletta) of Belleview, FL, Kelly Paletta of Belleview, FL, her children Khayla, Alexandra and Panagiota Zouras of Vourvoura, Greece and her son Daniel R. Paletta who is serving in the Army at Ft. Benning Georgia. Donna and Wayne Shoemaker of Summerfield, FL and their children Michael Shoemaker, AJ Shoemaker of Thurmont, MD and daughter Michelle Shoemaker of Shinnston, WV and brother Tony and Nancy Paletta of Ohio. Amy Orton Carpenter TenHuisen, age 93, died at her residence on February 14, 2010. Amy was born on January 2, 1917 in North East, Pennsylvania to the late Thurman and Mary Prindle Orton. She was a homemaker.
Amy is survived by her daughters Joyce Neely of Florida, Mary (David) Hawkins of Macedon, NY, Trudy McDevitt of Jonesboro, GA, stepson Keith (Jody) TenHuisen of Pennsylvania, stepdaughters Karen Ehrhardt of Arizona, Kathy Johnson of New York, 12 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.
Amy is preceded in death by her first husband Paul L. Carpenter and her second husband, Everett L. TenHuisen and two brothers, Gus and Ash Orton.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Sunset Harbor Baptist Church in Summerfield, FL. Interment was held in Quincy Cemetery, Ripley, NY.

Joseph Damien Marques, age 85, died at Estelle's Hospice House on February 18. 2010. He was born in Centralia, Pennsylvania and moved to this area from Shamokin, PA in 1987.
Joseph was a Manager of hardware store and grocery. He was a Member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Belleview and a Veteran ofWW II serving in the United States Army Air Corps.

RUTH ELLEN BARREN
Ruth Ellen Barren, age 58, passed away on February 14, 2010 at Estelle's Hospice House after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to Leesburg, FL. Ruth was a Sales & marketing Administrator for Florida Leisure Communities where she live in Pennbrooke Fairways. Her job brought her to Summer Glen in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Beverly Spalti and her daughter Rachel. Survivors include her daughter Leslie Wright and her three adopted Grandchildren, Samuel, Alaura and Joshua. Ruth is also survived by her three brothers, Russ (Frances) Spalti, Russel (Janet) Spalti and Roy (Kim) Spalti.
Ruth enjoyed baking, sewing and teaching Sunday School at Belleview United Methodist Church.
Ruth will be greatly missed by many friends and family. To Join in a celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 12pm on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Belleview United Methodist Church, 5640 Brown Road and CR 484 in Belleview. There will be cake and coffee at Summer Glen located at 15840 SW 13th Circle, Ocala at 3pm.

GERALD JOSEPH FENCLAU
Gerald Joseph Fenclau, age 79, of Belleview passed away on February 13, 2010 at the Tuscany House after a short illness.
After 23 years of service with the New York State Police as a trooper, Gerald and his wife, Audrey moved to the Belleview area in 1986. He was a member and volunteer at St. Theresa Catholic Church as well as a member of the American Legion Post #284 being a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. Gerald was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey; son, Mark Fenclau; daughter Valerie Valle; son Eric Fenclau (Debbie); 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 10 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11528 SE Highway 301, Belleview. Interment will be held privately.

ELOISE CANFIELD BORTREE
Eloise Canfield Bortree, beloved sister of Esther Tuman Schomp, passed away February 8, 2010 at HPH Hospice in Dade City, Florida after suffering critical injuries in a fall at her Zephryhills home.
Eloise was born on September 25,1922 in Tyler Hill, Pa., the first child of Leary and Myrtle Hull Monington. She attended Galilee Elementary School and Damascus High School. On September 8,1940, Eloise married a neighbor, Lloyd Canfield, and they resided on a dairy farm two miles from her parents farm where they raised their family. When a land developer began to buy up the farms in the area, they sold out, retired and moved to Zephyrhills. Lloyd passed away on Christmas Day, 1983 and on September 25,1985, Eloise married Ernest Bortree and they divided their time between Zephyrhills and Flagstaff, Arizona until his death on November 29,1996. Alone again, Eloise and Esther made several motor trips to Pennsylvania together and often visited each others homes.
Eloise is survived by two sons, Lloyd and wife, Norma, Honesdale, Pa. and Leroy and wife, Jennifer, Callicoon, N.Y. Two daughters, Lavon Canfield of Hemet, Ca. and Beverly Crittenden and husband, Jack, of Zephyrhills, Fl. and Wyevale, Ontario, Canada. A son-in-law, Arthur Rutledge, Abramsville, Pa. eleven grandchildren, Lloyd, Jr., Micheline, Joy, Richard Jr., Kathleen, Robert, Bonnie, Arthur Jr., Melanie , Katicia and Rebecca, who flew down from Pa. to see her grandmother over the weekend. Twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two sisters, Esther Schomp, Ocala, Fl. and Veramae Belknap, Honesdale, Pa, One brother, James Monington, Cremora, Va. A sister, Ellen Williams , passed away in 2009, three brothers, Willis, Vernon and Duane passed away in 1973, 2007 and 1934.. A great granddaughter, Nichelle Canfield, passed away in 1994.
She was dearly loved by local nieces and nephews, Janet Selby and John Tuman of Belleview, Michael Tuman, Richard Tuman and Kathy Peavy of Ocala and Margie Shipp of Sparr. As per her wishes, there will be no services. Following cremation, her ashes will be placed beside her first husband in the Galilee, Pa. Cemetery.

Alida Sarah Nichols, age 71, was called to the Lord on February 7, 2010. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey and was a retired Bookkeeper.
Alida was a transplant from Yuba City, California and has called Florida her home for 9 years. She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church at The Villages.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by her loving husband Jerry Nichols, daughter Stacy Tremblay, Grandchildren Joseph, Jacob and Danielle Tremblay, sisters Arlene Optholt and Phyllis Perez and extended family and many friends.

Eugene J. Hilla, age 83, died at Munroe Regional Medical Center on February 1, 2010. He was born in Rogers City, Michigan.
Eugene was the Owner/Operator of Texaco Gas Station in Rogers City, MI. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview, VFW in Michigan and Serviceman's Club. He enjoyed hunting and bowling. Eugene was a Veteran of WW II, serving in the United States Navy and with he Seabees in Okinawa.
Mr. Hilla is survived by his wife Leona Hilla of Belleview, FL, daughters Judith Hilla of Grand Rapids, MI, Marcia (David) Smolinski of Posen, MI, Nancy Bushart of Flint, MI, Bonnie (Michael) Ruggles of Petoskey, MI, sons Thomas (Laura) HIlla of Rogers City, MI, Timothy HIlla of Wyoming, MI, Steven Hilla of Rogers City, MI, brother Arthur (Virginia) HIlla of Rogers City, MI, sister Louise (Richard) Kuznicki of Millersburg, MI, 19 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons Eugene Hilla, Jr., and Kenneth Hilla.

FLORENCE ANN POWELL TRESSLAR
Mrs. Florence Ann Powell Tresslar age 89 of Penland St, Ellijay, GA. FL, formally of Belleview, FL, passed from this life January 31st, 2010 from the North Georgia Medical Center.
Born March 29th 1920 to her late parents Joseph Daniel and Margaret Louise Gable Powell in Franklin, IN. Member of Cartecay United Methodist Church, graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1937, moved to Florida in 1950, settling in Belleview, FL where she was the owner of the Western Auto Store and moved to Ellijay, GA in 1984.
Mrs. Tresslar is survived by her husband of 72 years, Maurice Tesslar of the home in Ellijay, daughter Maureen Tressler Durham of Belleview, FL, sons and daughters in law William and Debra Tresslar of Tifton, GA., Steven and Donna Tresslar of Ducktown, TN, daughter in law Donna Belle Tresslar of Tifton, GA, fourteen grandchildren, multiple great and great-great grandchildren, brother Dale Powell of Ellijay, GA., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 3rd, 2010 at Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harden Hopper officiating, music by Susan Hochkins, interment followed the service in the Cartecay United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Brent Tresslar, Michael Tresslar, William Trussler, Jr., Steve Winstanley, Travis Winstanley, Stephen Michael Tresslar and Bryan Crump.

Emmett Washington Bowling, age 88, died at his residence on January 20, 2010. He was born in Leighton, Alabama and moved to this area from Michigan in 1983.
Emmett was a Tool and Die Maker in the Automotive Industry. He was a member of Belleview United Methodist Church, Elks, Masons, Moose, Officer in AFL UAW and Chairman of Northwest UAW. He served as Belleview City Commissioner, County Commissioner in Gennesee County, MI and City Commissioner in Davison, MI.
Mr. Bowling is survived by his wife Lillian Mae Bowling of Belleview, FL, son Emmett Gerald "Jerry" Bowling of Westland, MI, daughters Margaret Lee Derbin of Macomb, MI, Victoria Lutz of Parker, AZ, step sons Corwin Wherrett of Ashville, NC, Donald Wherrett of Concord, CA, sisters Glyniss Blevins of Adrian, MI, Mary Sight of Lindon, MI, brother J.C. Bowling of Fallwell, CA, 4 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great-grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews.
